Let me first say that I have been a 1050 owner for three weeks now, and am very impressed with i'ts performance! I was looking at Marantz and Onkyo, but I prefer the 1050. Very nice musicality, good dynamics and soundstage. Build quality is way beyond it's price.

Some manufacturers claim that their receivers are capable of 10hz - 100khz response. They state that it benefits sacd/dvd audio. Is this hype? Humans can't even recognize sounds beyond 20khz - right?

This is my first post on the BB. I've enjoyed reading other's ideas and opinions - really good stuff.

On the 1050, you would connect SACD/DVD-A to the analog 5.1 passthrough inputs. These inputs do NO conversion of the signal whatsoever, except for volume control and input selection. I don't think frequency response will be a problem.
