I have been looking for Pronto hex codes for a Samsung LN46A950 and cannot find them. I've looked on remotecentral.com, but I found little there that was new. Almost everything I found is before 2008.

I have a URC MX-850 and the software available to end users for URC remotes does not allow you to update the database. URC says you have to learn the buttons or use pronto hex codes imported through the browser.

Do you have the original remote for the Samsung? I've always learned the commands directly rather than used the code database. Also, if you got your 850 from an authorized dealer, the dealer is supposed to provide you with software that offers "Live Update."

Maybe I'm just being lazy. I didn't buy my remote from an authorized dealer and my software does not have the button for downloading database updates.

I did find the Pronto database on the Philips site, and the Pronto software. It has codes for all 2008 Samsung TVs and I was able to save a file with a .xcf extension containing the codes for my TV. What I don't know is whether the URC software can read the file. I'll have to try and figure that out tonight.

I've found that learning commands from the remote can be about as fast as harvesting stuff from other people's files (either manufacturers or individuals), which is why I pretty readily fall back to that if I can't easily find a file. The IR database actually tends to be my last resort, although I got some good odds and ends from it for my Sony HDTV.

I think you'l need a .ccf file format for the universal browser to read it, but I'd have to check to be sure.

I have never used pronto files but the one thing that I have found to be invaluable from the remote central files for my MX-700 were the discrete codes that were otherwise undocumented.

That's the thing I need to find, at least in part. My biggest problem is that the Samsung remote does not have hard-coded buttons for individual sources. You go to the source list and scroll up and down to the source you want. I have a button for HDMI1 in the URC file, but my STB is on HDMI2/DVI and I cannot figure out the code for that. It appears that the code I'm using toggles between that and the TV's internal tuner. So I cannot set a button for the TV tunner and another for the STB. Nor can I learn the code because I cannot identify a button that sends the right code.
