I've noticed several Outlaws have changed from the Panamax 5100 to the Belkin PF60 "console". What do you see as the advantages of the PF60 vs the 5100?

I made the change because my Panamax was getting old and the MOV's had taken more hits than I felt comfortable with. As a result, I wanted a replacement and the PF60 (on sale from eCost) was an economical solution for it.

gonk,

Thanks for your input...

My "lurkers" reaction to your "economical solution" is that, given your demonstrated savvy in these affairs, you would not have entrusted your system to the PF60 had it had any significant(as in none) deficiencies.

FWIW, the best price I've found is $215, at buy.com.
Your $160 was spectacular!

gonk -- Out of curiosity, about how long did you hold the Panamax before switching it out? I've had mine since I got my 990 (July 2005) and am trying to figure if it still has some life left (assuming average number of hits). Thanks -- Bob

I bought my Panamax in early spring of 2002 and replaced it in the summer of 2007 - so five years (including a typical number of tornade alley power outages and one really unpleasant power loss event in the summer of 2003).

Thanks, gonk! I feel more comfortable hanging on to mine for a little longer.
