OK, excuse my ignorance. I like the sms-1 but do they make one for the whole frequency spectrum? What would this device be called? any links?

There isn't anything quite like the SMS-1 for the full frequency range. There are equalizers that can operate across the full range (such as these from Behringer ), but you'd need separate measurement equipment to find the appropriate settings to use.
