Anyone out there own a Panamax 5400-EX or like Conditioner? If so, have you experienced hum in your system (spkrs) if components aren't plugged into the correct input? Does this even make sense?

The only time I ever experienced this was way back when I had my subwoofer plugged into a different circuit. Also be sure that any signal carrying cable (satellite, antenna, cable) also goes through the panamax to get properly grounded.
The Panamax doesn't know one component from the other when you plug them in, so if none of the above applies you might want to try unhooking components from your 990 one at a time to see what stops it.

I have a Panamax 5100 as well and I've not had any hum from the equipment plugged into it. I did have a ground loop before I got the Panamax that caused my sub to hum but it was caused by the cable service which is fairly typical. The solution was a ground isolator on the cable coax at the cable box. As sluggo suggested plugging the cable into the Panamax should isolate the cable ground from house ground and possibly fix the hum. You can check this quickly just by disconnecting the cable to see if the hum goes away. Otherwise you need to isolate what is causing the hum by disconnecting individual components to see if any of them are causing the problem. This process can be a real pain in the neck but you should be able to isolate what is causing the problem. Let us know how it works out.

So does it make a huge difference in what electronic are plugged into what inlet? If so, what should I plug where? Is it best to just follow the preformatted labeling. My biggest challenge are the ML Aeon i's.....the electrostats have to be plugged into a power source and I didn't want to plug them directly into the wall. Any suggestions. I guess if I pull ML's out the equation, there's enough inlets for everything. Should I get separate line conditioners for the speakers. And last but not least, is anyone actually using the Satellite TV Jacks? If so, how are you making the connection and does it add value to the picture/sound quality from the source? Ok, that's enough for now.

Hi ej, just my 2 cents but I think monster makes a surge protecter that plugs into the wall it's supposed to be for subwoofers, I have two on my klipsch subs, maybe that will help,I got them for $40 each.

sorry ej went out for a while, there are three. av200 is 39.95, sw200 is 49.95 and the hts200 is 59.95 they have two outlets on them, I found them at wild west electronics.com check to see if they might work for you, I have the sw200's for my subs, it just is a piece of mind for me because they are on the other side of the room about 15 feet away from my components.
