Matthew, let me give you my own personal example. I'm on my third pair of Nautilus 804s. The reason why is a long story. I know, from personal experience, that N804s take at LEAST 200 hours, more like 300 hours, to break in. My wife, who is not really picky about audio equipment, can even tell the difference.

That said, I only get to listen to them an hour a day, on average. I definetely don't want to wait 200 days to hear them sound as good as they are meant to sound.

I've had my present pair of N804s for a little over a year now. It took a little over a month to get them broken in. That means 330 months of quality sound rather than 165 days...

I think you meant to say days rather than months, but I see your point. Sorry that you only get to listen for an hour a day. I usually listen for several hours a day, except, like I said, when I have a new "toy" to play with. I would guess that my stuff gets broken in fairly quickly. The change happens gradually, though, so I'm never quite sure when it starts and when it stops.

I know what you mean. Nautilus 804s, like quite a few other speakers, change radically in the first 20-30 hours. After that, they keep changing for quite a while.
I've noticed noticeable change after almost a full year has gone by. They just seem to "disappear"...
