Hello all,
I'm new to the list. I just received my 1050 and i am setting it up now. The component rack that I have (Plateau Z-5a) only has 7" in between the shelves. This ony leaves 5/8" air space, is this enough or should I put it on the top or bottom shelf (neither of which I want to do) Thanks

My 1050, at idle, runs hotter than the
Bryston 4B ST amp that powers my front speakers, after it's been running at 80% power. That's pretty darn hot.

Personally, I would give your 1050 at LEAST 3" of space between it & the shelf above it.

I would concur on this -- I had my 1050 set up with less than an inch clear above it, and it ran extremely hot. Increased it to about 2" clear, and it has run much cooler.

I've had about 2" of clearance above my 1050 since I first received it and have never had a heat problem.

Thanks everybody, I have decided to put it on the top shelf of the rack. Lots of airspace.

Sounds like a good choice -- I never had any performance problems when my 1050 was cramped (which was for probably 4 months), but it would be a shame to shorten the life of your equipment. By the way, enjoy your 1050!

When I got mine I immediately wrapped it in four layers of airtight insulation wrap, to prevent dust from getting in. Maybe that's why it fried...
