I am upgrading my current receiver (stereo only) and plan to start with the RR2150 based on funds available. If I want to upgrade in the future, would a logical step be to purchase a couple of 2200s and use the 2150 as a pre-amp? This is for music only - not terribly concerned w/surround sound.

Did I ask a silly question? For a 2-channel music only setup, is it pointless to talk about upgrading from the 2150?

It depends largely on the speakers and the room - if you have relatively efficient speakers (especially if there's a sub in the mix to take some of the burden of the more power-intensive low frequencies off the receiver), the 2200's may not make any difference sonically. If you have very inefficient speakers in a large room, the extra power could actually help.

The speakers are Vienna Mozart Grands and the room is about 20x15.
