The pre-outs will be going to active crossovers and then the sub-outs from the crossovers will be going into a mixer for downmixing from 7.1->2 channels. The crossovers and mixers are pro balanced devices, so staying in the XLR realm would just be simpler.

The non-sub outs from the crossovers will obviously each drive a mid or treble amp.
