is anybody using one of these?i was thinking about buying one but had a couple concerns.
one was the fixed bass management set at 80hz.
the other was the speaker setup, the manual says 'no test tone will be output through the sub'.does this mean you can't adjust the sub level?
i've never used the 5.1 direct on my 1050 but i'm assuming sub level is inoperable.
considering my 1050 does all bass management(to a now passive sub),this is a major concern.
i just figured i'd replace my dead dvd player with something current and be sacd/dvd-a capable but if i can't get one with decent bass management(and not spend major $$$$),i'll just go pick up another one for $60 at the pawn shop.
anybody have a recommendation?under $400 as this is just icing on the cake and not a necessity.
thanks,
joe

Cant you just set all your speakers to large on the 1920, and have it bypass its internal bass management and allow the 1050 to handle all that for you?
If so, this is the way I would go. Its what I do on my SACD/DVD-A player going into my 990.

well, i actually pulled out the hardcopy of the 1050 manual and there is no mention if the channel levels are active during 5.1 direct, if somebody knows for sure please let me know, if not i'll repost in the 1050 forum,or send tech. the question.

I use a 1050 with a Sony DVD/SACD player and it seems to me that the 1050 keeps the channel levels set the same when using the Direct input. I've never had a problem with channel levels on the 1050 when using SACDs except for adjusting the subwoofer to taste. I would also recommend using the internal 1050 test tones for set-up on all channels except the subwoofer. The subwoofer test tone is just wrong and I think that's been documented before by Outlaw.
Concerning the subwoofer adjustment and the direct input, the subwoofer will only put out any signal being sent directly to it from the player. So with the Denon, you will get any signal below 80hz if you have the bass management on the player engaged. You then have the choice of adjusting the level using the subwoofer trim on the 1050.
Hope that helps...
