Does anyone use these caps on their 950's or other equipment? I know that they are supposed to reduce the noise floor by preventing unwanted EMI and RF, but do they really work? They run about $2 each which is a little expensive for what they are. If they don't really do anything then my next question is do you have any recommendations for just plain RCA caps that will keep the dust and corrosion out.

A couple years ago, I actually tested these caps with an oscilloscope and a Sony ES receiver. I couldn't find any change in the noise floor or any change in frequency response over about a half dozen trials with my Denon test CD. So I'm inclined to consider any benefit here to be the power of suggestion. But hey, maybe I just had a very EMI/RFI quiet location.

Cheers,

FWIW, many noise problems can be attributed to cabling. Check your interconnects first. Disconnect them all and add them one by one. Check your noise as you go.

Start there. Could be worth the time if you are patient.

I don't think I have a noise problem, just looking to improve what I have audible; visually and maybe preserve the unused connection in a pristine state.

Ah, well if it's just a visual thing then "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." 8-)

If you just want to keep dust bunnies off the connectors, then plastic caps work too. 8-)

Cheers,
