I don't know how long this has been going on, but I just noticed this today. About 20 minutes into Planet of the Apes is when I really began realizing that there wasn't any sound coming out of my center speaker. I looked at the receiver and all of the speaker icons were lit up except for the center. I checked my connections, and everything is fine, and when I go into the speaker menu the center is set to large and the icon is there, but a few seconds later (when the main info display reappears) all the speaker icons pop on again except for the center.
I tried restarting the DVD, turing off, then on, the receiver, tried a different DVD, still same result. If I switch to another input, say video 1, the center icon will show along with the "pro-logic" icon, then go back to DVD input, the red "digital" will show up, but no center.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? Is there any quick fix? Thanks for any suggestions or info!!!

No offense, but are you absolutely sure you don't have "phantom" mode selected on your surround mode setting?

I can't offer any sort of rational explanation for that, but try one thing -- set your center to "small" (if it's like most center channels, it's not designed to go all the way down to 20Hz). It shouldn't make a bit of difference, but it's a place to start. Also, have you tried any other DVD's?

I knew someone would suggest the one thing I didn't think to try. Checking to see if I had it phantom mode would have never crossed my mind because I have no reason to put it in phantom in the first place. I must have hit the mode button at some point without realizing it. Thanks Zed.
