Answer to second question: Try Hi-Fi Remote (one of the ones Lena mentioned above) for a wider selection of codes for the 1050's remote, you may find one that works for you. Remote Central may not help as much, as it doesn't have as much on the family of remotes the 1050's remote comes from.
