Mine makes a pop or click noise from the mains when i power it off... Doesn't matter how high or low the volume is, which tells me it's not the things I have connected to the 1050, it's soemthing inside...

Anyone else, or is this just a "feature"

I think I remember hearing something similar - a "pop" - back when I was using the 1050's internal amp (been using a 750 since July or so, though, so my memory isn't 100% reliable).

Yeah. Mine does the same thing. It sounds more mechanical than a pop to me. Now that you mention it, I'm not sure what it is, but I always just assumed it was something internal and was normal.

(Clarification edit) It doesn't come from the speakers. It comes from the unit itself.

My 1050 pops too. I was kinda bummed at first but as long as it doesn't hurt anything I guess it's okay.

Thanks all.. While I don't think it's enough to hurt my speakers, I'm not terribly pleased, either....

There's an internal 'click' that sounds like a relay disconnecting, but a pop from the speakers is wrong.

As I understand it hitting the "green button" doesn't actually turn the unit on and off, it controls a servo which handles that job. This is a protection circuit used to either protect the unit or the speakers from recieving a sudden burst of energy. The pop is the mechanical sound of the servo in operation.
Many, if not all, recievers operate in this manner. The pop doesn't come through the speakers and may in fact be there to protect the speakers, though perception is such that you can fool yourself into thinking it does.

I am extreemly surprised that Gonk's unit does not pop when hooked up to the 750. This could mean that the servo is only there to "turn on" the speakers. Perhaps I will test that in a month or two.

There is a click, now that I think about it. I couldn't remember if there was any other noise associated with the unit going into standby, and I've actually gotten so used to the relay click that I don't think about it anymore. Sorry of I confused anybody...
