I saw it the first day the press release came out on Onkyo's website. I cannot lie I was not happy about seeing it, you see I brought an 595 less than a month before Onkyo did the press release. I would have taken my 595 back but then that would mean I would have to go back to my old Kenwood AR404 until April and that was something I was not prepared to do. However I think I will what until June or July when I know the store I brought the 595 from is out of stock and only has the 600's in. Then I have a feeling something bad might happen to my 595 and since it is still covered by warranty they will have to give me a new one if the unit is un repairable and then I will have my Onkyo 600.

In regard to the new Onkyo 600 in my mind their is only one thing missing. I wish the Onkyo 600 had preamp outs so you can send a signal to a separate power amp. Also this is the replacement for the 595 and I have also saw another new Onkyo model that is the replace the 494, so do you think Onkyo will be replacing their whole line of receivers soon? It makes no real point to pay extra money for an Onkyo 696 where the only difference is that the 696 has preamp outs and the 696 only has DD and dts.

I'm curious as to why you keep posting your Onkyo questions here? I understand you debated the Outlaw 1050 and then decided for the Onkyo. You would probably be better served at an Onkyo forum. As for subs they are a lot of sub diy forums; that's where I go with my questions on subs.

I'm assuming from one of TNSNG first posts, he purchased his Onkyo around the same time he 'discovered' Outlaw. He's new to this, and has already caught the upgrade bug and is commendably making plans for his future purchases and learning as he goes.

Great site here to find out from happy Outlaw owners, (who've had time to upgrade around) how things stack up. Good leads you gave him, as complimentary resoures to have site specific questions answered.

Oh I'm sorry, I keep forgetting this is no audioreview. I'm used to the audioreview site where you can almost ask any question.

To tell the truth Smart Little Lena I have been upgrading for while now. First receiver I had was a Kenwood AR404, then an Onkyo TX-8511 and now I have the Onkyo TX-DS595. I have to agree with MCH I don't really like it here anyway. It is to bias around here if you know what I mean.

I will be the first to admit that a bias in favor of Outlaw gear exists here, for an obvious reason. One thing that we all should remember when getting other people's opinions is who we are asking. Go to a Denon-oriented thread at Home Theater Forum, as you will likely hear a great deal of praise for Denon -- but it will be coming from people who shopped around and settled on Denon as their preferred equipment. Thenotsonewguy, you shopped around and have found a great deal of success with Onkyo gear, since your last two receivers have both been Onkyo. I have a co-worker (who will be demo'ing my 1050 once I get the 950) with a 10+ year old Yamaha receiver and CD player paired with some Polk monitors who swears by Yamaha and Polk, even though he hasn't looked closely at their company's product line in over a decade. Are those biases? Sure they are, and there's nothing wrong with them. As this is a forum provided by Outlaw Audio, it is predominantly populated by people who shopped around and settled on Outlaw as their preference (along with people who are considering Outlaw, of course). You will not find a lot of regulars here who prefer Yamaha receivers, or Denon, or Onkyo, or Sony. The regulars are Outlaw buyers, and they obviously preferred Outlaw's product.

We are also generally proud of this forum -- I don't see Denon or Onkyo or Yamaha paying the hosting fees and such to provide their consumers with a free online forum. The regulars around here are typically very happy to share their experience with Outlaw gear in particular and home theater in general. That extends beyond receivers or pre/pros or amps or interconnects to things like speakers -- a subject that this forum has provided a great deal of information on. From what I've read, Thenotsonewguy has asked for and received some excellent feedback on subwoofers in recent weeks, from some people with a great deal of knowledge on the subject (such as Charlie's information on DIY speakers and subwoofers, and I think it's pretty clear that Charlie has some experience in that field). You will be hard pressed to find a more civil forum online (the logo thread being perhaps something of an exception...).

Sorry!, I meant “new to this” really more, as in Outlaw, not gear. Remember, I’m the one with the clock radio at your age (16), Had to wait till the parents were gone & go crank their system for anything decent, and if I got caught! Boy you’d think playing a little rock & roll would RUIN a system forever after, for Opera and the Herb Albert Teijuana Band. Actually I think it was where I left the volume knob, (forgot to hide that evidence) that got him the most!
I recall your stating, how you had heck telling friends why in your personal opinion, other choices were better than Bose.

I bet your a pipeline of info. to lots of younger guys out there, just starting to make a lifetime of audio purchases - to sites like this.

On ‘You know what I mean’, I agree with Gonk, I expect every online site to have its bias, (only fair). Therefore, when considering this or that, or just trying to learn, I use all sites to get a balanced take on the big picture.
I just weight what I learn by, - Who, What & Where.
