My parents just brought down a load of old LP's of mine from the collection of mine on their attic. I'm going to get a phono preamp to hook up to my 1050 and start spinning some shellac with my Technics SL-J2.
There are some original Mingus LPs, an original Jackie Gleason Music For Lovers Only (smaller than a 78, but larger than a 45?), and Beethoven's 9 by the Berlin Philharmonic with Otto Klemperer conducting, not to mention some others I think were mixed up with my records at some point. A couple of unopened Joan Baez LPs.
Of course there is the collection of embarassing mid-80's titles of mine (Big Audio Dynamite, Clannad, etc...).
I think I just got back to love of the music for itself. I've been getting the gear for HT, but forgot about the music. I really liked the ritual of playing records. I guess the anticipation for the music adds to the enjoyment.
BTW, does anybody remember a black box that would remove the pops and clicks from the record as you listened to it? I remember seeing it in the New Products section in a 1980's Stereo Review years ago.
