Have a new Pioneer DV 563-a player & can't seem to get the sa-cd to work. The DVD audio works fine but the sacd I have doesn't work. also doesn't work on a regular cd so maybe a bad copy eh? Or is there a setting I'm missing? Haven't had much time to play with but any experience would help.

On all SACD players, you will only get signal out of the analog outputs of the player when using non-hybrid SACDs. You need to have the multi-channel analog outputs of the player connected to get signal. This is due mainly to copyright restrictions. DVD-A will play without the analog connection because those discs feature a DD layer that will player like a regular DVD.

I don't own the Pioneer, but there may also be a setting in it for turning on the SACD output. Good luck!

When I first started using the 563A, my multi-channel SACD’s were only playing in 2-channel mode via the analog outputs, which were all connected properly. I had to do some digging through what was to me a series of non-intuitive menus to find a setting that changes SACD playback from 2-channel to multi-channel. Once I made that change, viola! Perhaps you can also find this setting and change it without further description here, but if not, I’ll check back.

Hey thanks, need to get a tv so I can use the on screen menus. Only ran component video cables from my closet so either I'll wait or just hookup something small to use the menus. thanks
