Hi everyone. I'm new to separates. Just ordered 2 M-blocks and plan on using my HK AVR230 as the pre/pro for my fronts (Paradigm Monitor 9's). Feeling a bit nervous, did I do the right thing. I mainly listen to music and wanted to get more power to my Paradigms. I figured this was a good inexpensive way to take the leap into separates. What do you guys think. Needing a little re-assurance here.
thx in advance

Don't sweat it -- it sounds like you chose a good way to start moving into separates.

You can't go wrong with mono blocks. That is the beauty of separates -- you can use them with any pre/pro's.

Great product. Exceptional value. Super warranty. Can't go wrong. Buy Outlaw.

For those of you who are looking for a different sort of great deal, and are willing to purchase used products (without warranty, of unknown provenance. etc.) you might want to consider older amps like the NAD 2150 and 2155. I have two of each, each running in bridged mode, driving my four surrounds. At ~150W continuous (250W peak) they have more than enough power. And the going rate for used ones is anywhere from $80 to $120 - if you shop around - making for a great $/W ratio. (And because they are relatively light, you can have them shipped to just about anywhere in Canada or the US for $20-30.) They're quiet and practically bulletproof - with their protection circuits and "soft clipping" functions. And while most of them are approaching twenty years of age (or so) there's no reason to believe that they won't easily last another twenty.

And by the by, those old NAD amps do have a connection to the current Outlaw organization.

Regards.
