After much listening to compare, i find that i really like using the 5.1 analog connections for Cd's and Dvd's in my universal player over the digital connection.
Does anyone else prefer this or am i a little whacked??

I use the 5.1 direct imputs from a Rega Planet CD player. I tried the digital input, but preferred the analog. Now, of course, the problem is I can't hook up another SACD or DVDA player without using a ridiculous number of additional cables. I also run the Rega Planet through a ICBM to redirect the bass. Works great.

It's actually a somewhat common quandary for CD listening -- which has the better DAC's, player or pre/pro? You're not whacked.

In Todd's case, many people like the stereo bypass on the 950 for connecting CD players with really good DAC's (like the Rega) because it leaves the six channel input open.

Well, I thought my Yamaha s2300 had good DAC's. This machine is my first one with digital connections and I suppose that I expected that connection to sound the best. My NAD receiver is also my first machine with this option. I find with my setup that using the analogs gives my sound much much more prescence (without using gain)and obviously i'm not the only one!
Ok Gonk, I agree...i'm not whacked! Thanks for the affirmation! LOL
