OK, here's some fun stuff from the vaults.  I have a .wav file of a recording I made during some military live fire exercises in the California desert. It is a sequence of a military attack on an imaginary "enemy" which includes M1-A1 tank cannon fire, howitzers, troops firing M-16s while advancing, and Harrier jet flyovers up close - all from varying distances that get down to less than 100 yards for the M1-A1 cannon shots, right in front of you. Ouch!

This is a .wav file of about 22 megabytes for the stereo file, which can be burned to CD for some good 'ol lease-breaking fun. Just be careful with your hyper-expensive speakers though until you get a feel for the sound levels!

You can get it here:    http://www.goldswimer.com/sandv/wargames.wav

As before, this is an un-released recording from my personal archives that I recorded myself, and it was never in commercial release.  It contains NO songs by Britney Spears.

Thanks Soundhound.

You've posted it on a fast server / service. I was able to grab it in less than 30 seconds.

Sounds impressive - even on my office set-up. Can't wait to take it home and try it out tonight.

About 20 years ago I hung a microphone out my apartment window during a massive thunderstorm (I know, I know. Not the brightest thing to do!) and captured some pretty impressive explosive sounds - unfortunately only onto cassette - including a direct lightning strike to a tree not more than a few hundred yards away. If I can ever find the recording (and get my cassette deck back from the shop - where it's been for seven months) I'll transfer and post it.

Soundhound, that actually was a lot more melodic than anything Britney Spears has ever crooned.

Nice work; it gave me a claustrophobic feel listening to it on my headphones. Its definitely not something I would want coming my direction (the live fire, not Britney).

Sony DAT recorder, M-S microphone. Transferred and sample rate converted in ProTools.
