I need to get a second zone amp that will be driving 4-5 pairs of speakers. One option is getting a 12 channel amp. I will only get about 40 wpc. Another option is to get a 2 channel amp or two Outlaw M200s. If I go with a 2 channel amp I will need an impedence matching speaker selector. I will be driving 3 pairs of Sonance Mariner 300 outdoor speakers (two pairs will be on the same channels). Does anyone have any recommendations for or against any of these choices with product suggestions? I have heard that Niles makes a speaker switch that will handle up to 250 wpc.

Sounds like a good application for the use of a 70.7 volt transformer system. I think Niles might have the necessary stuff to do it. If not, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Do a bit of research, starting with Niles. This is the normal way to go with multiple speakers, and they probably have a 70.7 volt system. A web search will probably turn up a bunch of information on the subject. It is a very elegant and efficient way to go if you have more than a couple speakers to drive.

I am learning as we speak. Don't I need a transformer with each speaker? I have purchased 3 pairs of Sonance Mariner 300 speakers for outdoors and the Sonance Symphony 623t for the inwall.

You need a transformer for each speaker and either a transformer on the output of the amplifier, or an amplifier that has 70.7 volt capability built in. You adjust the maximum level of each speaker by selecting an appropriate tap on the transformer. You can also have a level control for fine-tuning of volume at each speaker.

Any ideas on where to look for transformers?
