There are some surround modes that work with stereo signals and provide 5.1 sound, specifically Pro-Logic and some DSP modes. None are really meant to provide 5.1 music; Natural is probably the best bet for music. Since the new Model 950 will have 5.1 stereo and 7.1 stereo, I would expect something similar to be included in future receivers.
