Does the 1050 have a mode to listen to stereo signals in 5 or 6.1? They really should include this in their next amplifier.

There are some surround modes that work with stereo signals and provide 5.1 sound, specifically Pro-Logic and some DSP modes. None are really meant to provide 5.1 music; Natural is probably the best bet for music. Since the new Model 950 will have 5.1 stereo and 7.1 stereo, I would expect something similar to be included in future receivers.

The best way to get 5.1 from a 2channel source is Dolby Pro Logic 2. But even DPL2 does not provide discrete 5.1. I don't think their are any audio formats or DSP modes that can provide discrete 5.1 from a 2channel source.
