Thanks for the kind words, but you might have me confused with someone else on the SACD vs DVD-A issue
I don't have either format at the moment, although I'm heavily involved in surround work with movie music. My only thought is that at the moment, the DSD (for SACD) bitstream is impossible to do any editing on, unless you happen to want to invest in *Sony* editing and authoring equipment. PCM is very easy to perform editing and signal processing on. Neither of these issues has anything to do with the home consumer however.
PCM is never going to go away, because there is really nothing that DSD can do that PCM can't. SACD may eventually win out with consumers as a delivery format, but then the consumer will win with either format; they both sound good.
I'm waiting for the next generation of combination SACD / DVD-A / DVD players before I replace my current DVD player.
