Would someone explain or point me to a web site that explains what is meant by DVD plus/minus?

I'm guessing that you're referring to the medley of different recordable/rewritable DVD formats: DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM. Best place to start might be in Jim Taylor's DVD FAQ (it's a huge document, so it may take a while to load -- you're looking for question 4.3, in case the link gives you any trouble).
