Hi, Thought I would start a new thread on remotes. I would like to hear what success stories you have using certain universal remotes with Outlaw equipment.. (namely the 1050).

Has anyone used the Home Theater Master series with success???

Thanks All!

I used the Sony RM-AV2100 with a 1050 successfully.

I would think that any of the good learning universal remotes (like the Home Theater Masters , excluding the SL-7000 and SL-8000) would work with the 1050, as well.

I'm using my RS 15-1994 without problem. Macros too. Its like the original Outlaw, but much improved.

Did you do some JP1 programming to set it up for the 1050?

Yes. I built a JP1 cable with parts from Rob Crowe of hifi-remote.com. I also downloaded everything relevant I could find from groups.yahoo.com/jp1, including the Outlaw load file. I had to modify the file to my liking, adding buttons for functions that weren't on it. I also changed the protocol, which was wrong on the spreadsheet. Everytime I get a new piece of equipment, the first thing I do after turning it on is reprogram the remote to control it with macros.

I have young kids, so I keep it simple, but they know how to work it now, from turning on the whole system (with one button) to controlling the new 5 disc changer.

My only gripe is that you can't relabel the buttons, but I wouldn't trade it for a touch screen.

And one other thing. While the 1050 remote is also programmable via JP1, I've never tried it because the cable is physically unable to reach the port on the remote. It's just too deep. I would have to find an extension of the 6 pin connector.

Saw your post & noticed you have a Toshiba 57HDX82. How do you like it? I am in the market for one. Where do you get yours?
I have done research on the net & have decided to get the Toshiba. Just trying to decide what size. I have digital cable, along with the outlaw 1050.
Thanks
Jack
