I'm waiting to buy the Model 990 when the Model 790 comes out(plus seven of the Outlaw XLR cables.) Is it still coming out? And is there a dB difference from the balanced vs. the unbalanced input? I had heard somewhere that balanced input can sometimes give you 4dB more output compared to the unbalanced output.

Just curious and waiting.

The 790 is still planned, as far as I know, but the replacements for the 755 and 770 (which will reportedly add balanced inputs but retain the same 200W ratings) will probably get here first - Outlaw apparently scrapped the initial 790 design due to cooling problems and are starting over, so it will likely take longer to get into production.

It seems if you want a multi-channel amp from Outlaw today, you've got 2 choices, the 7125 (7 x 125w) and the 770 (7 x 200w). Curiously, the 755 is still listed in the Products section of the website, but says "discontinued." None of those choices have balanced inputs.

Is there some reason why you want balanced inputs? Is your environment particularly "noisy" with EMI/RFI?

Cheers,

Thanks gonk. I may consider either of those for:

1) since they are coming out sooner
2) I'm not sure all my speakers can handle the 300W ( though I don't plan on having it up to max ever)

Still, the 790 does sound very inticing for one reason:
More Power!!!!!!! laugh

As far as Ritz's question; I've done a lot of PA systems and just have a fondness for the XLR connection, it seems to be more solid and yes I guess less noisy.

I will admit, that with what I have now, I do seem to get some hums every so often, but that may be the 2 S-video cables (with an extender adaptor) running beside my front and center speaker cables. The hum definitely seems to get louder the whiter/brighter the picture is.

When I upgrade to the 990/790 I'll upgrade my video to a full HD, instead of the old analog I have currently, and use a nice DVI-HDMI cable from Outlaw that should reach the distance fine (hopefully cancelling that hum problem)

Thanks for your input.
