right now Toshiba hd-a2 is on sale and i would like to know if it would be a mistake to purchase this machine if my TV. is only 1080i ? or is there a player that i should consider seeing that my tv does not recieve 1080p?

Considering the current price on the HD-A2, it's hard to argue against it - especially if you have a 1080i or 720p display. Unlike the more expensive HD-DVD players and all of the Blu-ray players, the HD-A2 can't output 1080p, a limitation whose practical ramifications would warrant some discussion even if you had a 1080p display.
