Looking for suggestions

I'm gonna need a pre/pro and 14 channels of ampification. So far I've formed the following candidate list:

• Outlaw 990 + (2) Outlaw 7125. 14 channels @ 190 watts into 4 ohms.
• Outlaw 990 + (2) Outlaw 7700. 14 channels @ 300 watts into 4 ohms. Also the outputs are balanced, which will make my BM and crossover system a bit simpler.
• Emotiva DMC-1 and (2) MPS-1 7 Channel Amps, 300 watts x 14. Also, balanced outputs.
• Emotiva DMC-1 and (1) MPS-1 7 Channel Amp with 125 watt 2 channel modules, 125 watts x 14. Also, balanced outputs again.

Anyone have more suggestions? I'm just starting to look around so I'm not set on anything. If the 7125 had balanced inputs I'd be pretty sold, but ....

Talk to the Outlaws, as it may make sense for you to order one 990/7125 combo and a separate 7125 B Stock. Maybe that will save you a bit of money.

Depending on what you are trying to do, does it make sense to think about a combination involving the Outlaw's 2200?

Plugging in 14 monoblocks seems like a wire management nightmare, plus I doubt there's any economy to be had there, is there?

I'm guessing that this will be for a new in-wall DIY speaker system.

Would a 990+7125/7700 make any sense (assuming high frequency drivers would potentially need less power than the woofers)? The one potential drawback there is that the unbalanced and balanced outputs are apparently not both active simultaneously (based on what at least one person has tried recently).

Assuming that all of the amplification was using balanced connections, would your signal splitting be handled by an active crossover network or would you be simply splitting the signals with wye-adapters?

The pre-outs will be going to active crossovers and then the sub-outs from the crossovers will be going into a mixer for downmixing from 7.1->2 channels. The crossovers and mixers are pro balanced devices, so staying in the XLR realm would just be simpler.

The non-sub outs from the crossovers will obviously each drive a mid or treble amp.

I have 8 additional channels of 500+ watts each for subwoofers and LFE already. The new amps will not handle deep bass.

Crossovers will likely be somewhere about 40-65 Hz and 250-700 Hz, so one amp will handle 50 - 400 Hz and the other 400 and up, roughly. I'm thinking this low crossover will require a bigger amp thatn typical for a "treble" application due to the energy needed in the midrange.
