B-stock experiences??

B-stock experiences?? - 07/21/04 02:16 PM

The "Free Freight Summer Escape" deal is pretty good but I am a little concerned about purchasing a "B" stock unit. Would anyone care to share their experiences with the purchasing a 950 B stock, or any other Outlaw B stock equipment? Outlaw states:

"However, as is the nature of any B-Stock or "refurb" product, they may have some slight appearance blemishes, as these products may have been opened and used by a consumer prior to their return. With that caveat, our experience is that these imperfections are very minor, and many consumers do not notice them."

Have current B stock owners found this to be generally true? Any reason why I should shy away from a B stock unit?

Thanks,

Justin

I believe my B-stock 950 was an A-stock 950 that had an internal update performed in order to overcome some initial early model 950 performance issues. I found no blemishes or other appearance defects present. The electronic performance of this unit appears flawless.

This is just my one experience though.

I purchased a B-Stock 755 and it was 100% perfect. Not a single scratch on the body or speaker connections. It also performed perfectly.

Hi JP,

Bought a "combo" 950 b-stock with 755 about a year ago. No problems, doesn't have any scratches, works perfect.

Recently purchased a B-stock 770. It is "like new." I would be hard-pressed to be able to tell it was used in any way before I opened it.

My B-stock ICBM has the prior owner's name engraved on the bottom. Coincidentally, he lives about 75 miles from me.

It seems to be working. I'm not sure how one could tell if it wasn't working properly unless it was an obvious failure in a channel or the entire unit died.

I do wonder what was so obviously wrong with it that the prior owner returned it. I suppose I could call him and ask.

It may have been returned not because of a defect, but because after demoing it he decided during the first 30 days that he didn't want it (for whatever reason).
