I just received my 950/7100 combo a few weeks ago, & I'm looking to add a Panamax 5100 to the rack.

Can anyone recommend an authorized dealer with good prices? All the authorized dealers seem to price it at $299, while the other online dealers quote prices of $195 to $250.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Stgrenier,

I can make plans and they fly out the window but right now I should try to shop fairly quickly to purchase a surge protector for my mother...off the top of my head I may go Panamax (prob something like the 5100), or ...with a series mode....or even a whole house at the panel, for her application, but that leaves her coxial cable and sat. lines still unprotected which is why the quicker fix (for me) of a panamax is a high likelyhood. If I run into any AD's at a better price will let you know, but know of none off the top of my head at this moment.

I'm guessing that you've discovered this list of Internet resellers . The place I bought my 5100 from was Sweetronics , which does not appear on the authorized list, so I can't help much on that I'm afraid...

I love my 5100 but alas I did not buy it through a authorized dealer!
I actually I bought it on ebay, factory new and sealed. I paid 150 or so, I think. So far it hasn't been a problem, but you do take risks with ebay.

Yes, I've found the list of authorized (and unauthorized) resellers. I was leaning towards an authorized dealer for the Connection Equipment Protection Policy, to cover my equipment costs if the Panamax were to fail to protect the equipment. But that cheaper price is attractive!

Here is a link for an Intermatic whole house surge suppresor protecting 4 phone lines and 2 coax lines as well as the electrical. http://www.intermatic.com/comins/IG1300-4T-2C.pdf

I got my Panamax 5100 from Power Systems Direct. Their webpage is http://www.powersystemsdirect.com/ They are authorized for both Panamax and Monster. I had started out wanting to get a Monster line conditioner, but they recommended the Panamax and it was about half the price. I spoke with Steve Fatula and he was quite helpful picking out the proper line conditioner. He seemed to ask the right questions and he did not try to sell me up into something more expensive. I ordered a couple surge supressors for my home computers at the same time as the 5100 and they put together a good price for the lot. I would not expect them to beat the price of the non-authorized online retailers, but they do pretty well.

I have to warn you that when you get your Panamax 5100.... bend with your knees to pick up the box. It's about the same weight as my olde JVC receiver. Judging by it's heft there must be some good sized transformers inside.

Since I've gotten the 5100 we have had some good thunderstorms. Several times during lightning strikes the lights in the house breifly dimmed and/or brightened and the picture & sound on my digital HDTV never noticed a thing (no static, no dimming of picture brightness).

I bought my Panamax 5100 3 weeks ago at Y3K Technologies. It's not an authorized dealer but being in Southern California, I do not have to worry about thunderstorms and the equipment warranty.
I am curious as to why the equipment warranty is only valid if the unit is bought from authorized dealer. Whether the unit is from authorized dealer or Internet companies, don't they all supplied by Panamax?
Is it because the auth. dealer costs include extra charges for the equipment warranty?
