It's really a shame that we've gotten to the point that the high end is so techy and the second tier so unreliable that it makes it so difficult for small-mid-sized manufacturers that have always given us such great products, have such trouble bringing their product to market.
The impatience that we've seen exhibited in this forum amoung early adopters will probably push them more toward the garden variety products. If the latest and greatest is that important to them, God beless 'em. I hope it doesn't reduce the market to the point where smaller producers can't stay in business.
I take hope in the model of such manufacturers as Cary Audio who has always produced wonderful products, though they haven't sold very many of any of them.
Still it starts to limit the market to producers who are quest oriented rather tha profit motivated. Is that bad? I really don't know, but it sounds expensive.

The more technology moves forward the farther back in time I seem to go in my listening habits. Just spent two weeks rediscovering my vinyl collection. I have several 35 years old components which are built like armored cavalry and still perform as well as ever.

I don't understand why this post is in the 998 section, it really has nothing to do with the 998.

I presume it's because the Model 998 is in the works because the Model 997 was cancelled for reasons similar to those cited in Parasound's announcement...

Yes I posted it because Parasound sited many of the same issues that Outlaw had. The big difference is that they seem to be giving up, while Outlaw is blowing ahead. I hope they succeed. We need more than the typical Onkyo, Sony, Denon, types and will miss out if we lose the Outlaws, Parasounds, Cary, etc.
