970 Problems

Well, add me to the list of folks w/ 970 problems

I got my B-stock 970 about 3-4 weeks ago. Initially, the only problem was the delay in audio when ever I would switch between digital sources, or fast-forward/rewind the DVR.

But, then about a week ago I had the first occurrence of the 970 not responding to any remote commands, with no sound output also. Turning the 970 off and then back on once or twice fixed it.

Then yesterday, the same thing happened. So, after turning it off and on 3 times, a weird squeal started emanating from the speakers. I immediately turned the 970 off again. Turned it back off and on and the squeal was gone. 2 more off/ons and the squeal was back. Still no sound. Maybe 2 or three off/on cycles more and the sound finally came back.

Thoughts? I haven't upgraded the firmware because I assumed Outlaw would have done that before shipping it to me 3-4 weeks ago...

Regarding your first issue - isn't the audio delay normal?

On this device, it appears to be. On my previous receivers, it was not...

I would call the Outlaws on Monday. I had a similar issue with my 970 (minus the squeal) and it was a capacitor issue. The audio delay occurs not only with the 970 but the 990 too (at least in my experience). Good luck.

Called Outlaw, they are sending out another one as there should be no reason for the squeal...

Well, it can't be too soon (tomorrow) that it arrives. For 2 days it only makes no sound at all, or the squeal...

Got the new one, after setting it up, so far so good
