How long will 970 retain settings after unplugged? i'm going on vacation and would like to unplug my monster powercenter 3500 so i was wondering if it was alright to do that and i wanted to make sure i wouldn't lose any of my outlaw settings.

I don't know what the official number is but I've had mine unplugged recently for 3 weeks while I was out of town and it retained all of the settings.

I would suspect that the settings are stored in eeprom or flash memory, which would mean that the settings won't be lost until you change them.

This is a Gonk question though.

More a question of not where stored (probably some sort of flash does sound right), but how the storage is "lit up" when the unit is removed from mains current. Usually a "super cap" helps keep the memory going for about three weeks or so in these types of products, but YMMV.

Both flash and eeprom are non-volatile devices that do not require ANY power to retain contents. A supercap would be used with cmos ram (volatile storage) and might last a few weeks before the cap went flat.

It's scary how much people know who visit these boards. Supercaps... eeproms... I'm lovin' it! Just when I thought I knew the ins and outs of my 970, I find I'm only scratching the surface.
