1070 Ventilation - 07/24/06 08:53 PM

I have my 1070 in fairly tight quarters. I have plenty of ventilation above and behind the receiver. I have nothing to the right and left..It's a pretty tight fit. The only portion that seems to run a little hot is the back right. Is this normal or is the lack of ventilation to the left and right making it run hotter. Thanks for any help

The left and right of most racks is pretty severely restricted. If the front and back are open and there's a few inches clear above, you should be in good shape.

I ended up buying a little whisper fan off eBay and mounting it to the back of my rack, just to keep the cirulation up. The Comcast DVR heats up like a mofo.

If your system runs pretty hot, and you're not inclined to wire up a fan system of your own, you can check out some of the products Active Thermal has here. I have the cool-it II, and it works well over my amp, but there's other options based upon your space available. Dead quiet, too.

oooh..GREAT link, Greg!! I think the Cool Shelf thing is gonna be the solution for me. The fan I bought off eBay turned out to be WAYYY too loud.
