Mono Soundtracks - 06/24/06 04:45 AM

Okay first thing I noticed, is that when watching a movie with a mono soundtrack (the original version of Blazing Saddles, in this case) the display that shows how many channels are in the signal shows ".0" instead of 1.0 like it should.

Secondly, the only two modes available are Dolby Digital, which plays audio out of just the center speaker (as intended), and stereo. I assume this is normal, but I just wanted to make sure that no other options like Pro Logic should work.

I should note that I haven't updated to the newest beta firmware yet, but I do have the version with the first no-audio fix flashed.

I don't remember what the 950 would show on a mono input (the 1070 apparently uses the same format), but I'd expect something like "1/0.0" - is that what you are seeing?

I don't think that Pro Logic II is set up to work with a pure mono signal (matrix decoding needs two channels to work with), so it makes some sense to only have Dolby Digital and Dolby Stereo to choose from.

No, definitely just seeing ".0"

Interesting. I think most of the mono tracks I've run across were Dolby 2.0 mono (left and right carrying same signal). Aside from the curious display, though, it sounds like the unit is behaving as intended...

Just for the record, I updated to the newest beta, and its still showing the same thing on the display. I know its a minor bug but just one I thought I should mention for any possible future firmware updates.
