Problem switching from DVD back to TV

Problem switching from DVD back to TV - 02/04/07 03:21 AM

When I switch my 990 from the DVD input the Cable Box for TV, I'm not getting a signal from the Cable Box -- just a bunch of blank&white video static. If I turn the 990 off and then back on again, all is well.

I have HDMI to DVI connection from my Cable box and Component coneections from my DVD

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks for your help.

It sounds like the cable box is having trouble getting an HDCP handshake because of the switching - common problem with devices that improperly implement HDCP. It's particularly odd, though, since you are also having to switch inputs on the TV. If you change the TV's input to the DVI/HDMI input after changing the 990's input to cable, try changing the TV's input first. A couple other questions: Can you turn the cable box off and back on and recover the signal? Do you have any other HDMI or DVI sources?

It's easy enough to fix. I simply turn off the 990, and turn it back on. Then, all is well. I don't have to touch the TV or the cable box. Strange!

This is almost certainly an HDCP issue, and the cable box is the culprit in most cases. Instead of turning the 990 off and back on, can you turn another device in the signal chain off and back on? Just curious if any of those help the box re-establish the HDCP handshake.

I have the same issue and Outlaw said it was a handshake issue. I can turn on and off either the cable box or the 990 and it fixes the problem
