Spliting component out on 990 to feed 2 monitors - 12/02/06 10:18 PM

Hello guys,

I understand what gonk was talking about in the AM about spliters and amplifiers. Just wondering if I want to split the component out on the 990 to feed my projector and my TV, but only will view one source at a time, do I need an amplifer or just a switcher? What I mean is I will only have the TV on, or the projector, never both. Which is the better choice? I can't find an amplifier in stock anywhere around me. I found a psyclone switcher which is used to run multiple audio and video units. Instead of having one input and multple outputs it has the reverse, one output and multlpe inputs. I am trying to finish up tommorrow and didn't want to wait a week. Thanks again to everyone.

I had to use one of those also, as multi component input to one output.

The key will be to use a universal remote so one souce shuts off while another will feed it.

It is automatic.

Will wire it tomorrow! Hope it works as I suspect!

You ought to be able to use a switch box connected "backwards" (the 990's monitor output connected to the switch's output and then each display connected to one of the inputs). As Nalod points out, it does involve having to use the switch to select which display is being used, but that's hardly the end of the world.

If money was no object, would it be better to use one of the component amplifier's you suggested? I also found one from Key Digital that I could have by mid week. Just want to do it once and do it right. Will my signal be better with one of the ones you suggested? I would not have to do any switching, correct? I could if I wanted to view both projector and tv at the same time. Thanks again.

Correct - with the splitter/booster, you would not have to do any switching and you could view both the projector and TV at the same time.
