Radio Shack DVI-HDMI Cables (Cheap)

Radio Shack DVI-HDMI Cables (Cheap) - 06/20/06 04:27 PM

I have noticed that Radio Shack (nationwide as far as I can tell) is discontinuing a number of their DVI-HDMI cables in varying lengths. For those of you that have less discriminating tastes (or are poor from sending all your money to Outlaw!) you might want to stop by and see what they have. I just picked up a 12 ft HDMI-DVI shielded cable for $25.00 yesterday. Just stay away from the DVI-I cables and you'll be ok. Those have an extra set of pins that you don't need. Of course all the ideal cable lengths are still full price.

You can see what they have online and then use the store locater to see if they have it at your store. It beats the hell out of paying $50 + for a similar cable!

That's a pretty good price from a retailer! However, the general consensus on the web is that www.monoprice.com has the best pricing around for cables. I personally am running multiple cables from here (including a 35-foot HDMI to M1 from my 990 to my projector) and am very satisfied.

A 15-foot HDMI/DVI cable is only $6.71:

I bought couple of 3ft DVI cables from Monopice - they don't work. Both of them were inroducing errors (white random dots on dark backgrounds) at 720p. 480p was OK, but the cable cannot cope with higher bitrates.

It's interesting that I did write a negative review of the cable on the Monoprice site, but they've removed it.

I have used several hdmi/dvi cables, both thick and thin, and found a few with interference problems (slight veiling of the image) but I remember having tried both a thick and a thin one that both exhibited that issue.
