Using Netgear readyshare with outlaw 990 usb input - 08/31/12 02:08 AM

Has anyone tried to use the ready share capability of a new netgear router with the usb input on the 990? I am not sure if this will work. I can provide more details if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Thanks

I believe the only function of the USB port on the 990 is for upgrading onboard software. If you've got the latest software version in the 990, I don't think there's anything for that port to do.

I now almost exclusively listen to file-based music sources, and I can tell you from personal experience that the USB port in the 990 is indeed more than capale of serving as an external soundcard.

I am not familiar with the ready share capability of the netgear router, but I suspect that is something like a fileserver appliance. If so, you will need another device to turn those bits into a "sound signal" (notice I did not say sound). An old laptop or PC can do the trick. That is unless, of course, the netgear router has this capability already built-in.

I stand corrected, and am glad the 990 will do this.
