The component video pass thru on the 990 does not seem to be allowing the red signal through. I have by passed the 990 and connected the source ( cable box ) directly to my video projector and it works fine.

It was working ok, a few days ago. I needed to move it, so I disconnected the unit, unplugged and reconnected it. I have tried resetting the unit, but no success. Any suggestions?

Try another cable, to eliminate possibility of a faulty cable. It's possible that you have a break in the cable but regained continuity when you moved it to the other source.

And tho it is simple make sure your connections to the 990 are correct.
