I am running a Sunfire TG II currently and am looking to update my system. Have been very happy with it, but am certainly very intrigued by this piece of hardware.

A few questions - anyone have any A/B comparison experience between the two? Can you disable the center channel and run only four or six channels (I hate center channel speakers - I haven't heard one I like yet and I have gotten spoiled running just four channels with my Newform Research 645 ribbons' transparency and massive soundstage). What is the noise floor like on the Outlaw (my Sunfire has an audible step up in noise at -20db on the ol' volume which drives me nuts)? Can you run multiple subs (I am currently running two Sunfire True Subs)?

Thanks for your help!

I haven't heard of any A/B comparisons between the Theater Grand II and the 990 - the TG II's been around a while, though, so there may be a 990 owner or two floating around who has some first-hand experience. I'd classify the 990's noise floor as excellent at any volume setting. You can easily disable the center channel speaker in the 990's menu, and there are two unbalanced subwoofer outputs as well as one balanced sub out.

The noise floor on my 990 is very low also.
I have a question. If you don't use a center how do you handle all the information sent to that channel that is specific to multi-channel material? Is some sort of matrix processing used?
