I have the 990 and the Outlaw 5 channel amp. Didn't think I would be going to 7.1 but thinking I may be now. What is the best way to run say the back two rear wall channels that I will be adding. They will obviously be smaller speakers than up front. Should I do two of the outlaw 1 channel amps or is there a less expensive way since I don't think 200 watts will be needed for the back two. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Just get a good 2 channel amp from Ebay or Audiogon. IF this is just for movies (not SACD or DVD A), you can go with a cheaper amp. Just make sure that it has at least 100 watts per channel. Adcom, Carver, NAD, Rotel, and ATI make good products with real RMS rat cool ings. Carver is alright, but much harder to find a repair person for if it breaks. I don't use anyone on Ebay that hs 97% or less in customer rating. Also, be certain that they have a DOA return policy. Here is the Audiogon link. It usually has more selection of quality amps-but don't let the REALLY high prices prevent you from looking for a bargin. Scroll to the bottom for the 'View Classifieds' link after chosing solid state amps . http://www.audiogon.com/

I have my back two surrounds in the ceiling but prior to that I had dipoles wall mounted (in my old place.) It depends on the room and the speakers. I would personally add two 2200's to the 755. You will have the same power, same sound , etc. but any good two channel amp will suffice -as jmartin suggested. You did not mention what speakers you will be running....???

I've done this a couple different ways. I've used my five-channel amp (a Model 750, 165Wx5) for the mains, center, and side surrounds and then used (briefly) an old stereo receiver or (for a couple years) a used Parasound HCA-800 Mk.II stereo amp (bought off Audiogon for $150 or so). I've also used my five-channel amp for the center and four surrounds along with a pair of M200's for the mains, which I switched to late last year after the old Parasound got flaky.

I recently picked up a used Parasound HCA-750A at a local dealer and have deployed it to drive my rear surrounds. Although it's rated at only 75 wpc, it works just great. Going from 5.1 to 7.1 was a very worth while upgrade...
