I hooked up my new plasma last night and am watching Transformers currently with my kids. Everytime a loud scene comes on (bass hits), the sound cuts out for a second or two. The system consists of:

Outlaw 990
Aragon 8008X3
Two Marantz MA-500 monoblocks
Sonus Faber Speakers
SVS 25-31+ subwoofer
Scientific Atlanta 8300HD
Pioneer 5080 Plasma
Panamax M4300-EX line conditioner

This is the first time I am using the SVS and the Plasma in this system. It is like the sub is drawing too much power or something. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

That's certainly a bit odd, and does sound like a possible power issue. Are all of the speakers cutting off? Do you see anything happen with the amps (the Aragon or the Marantz's)? I'm wondering if they are shutting down briefly or indicating any other sort of fault.

the outlaw's panel looks like it loses the signal. The panel reads always displays, "digital" in the middle but the dolby digital dissappears from the top left when the sound goes out. Any ideas?

I have seen that Transformers has been on HBO-HD this week. You did not say whether you were watching cable/satellite or a DVD player. With cable "over-compression" we, more often then I would like, have picture and sound dropouts and signal-lock loss, when there are big sounds that are usually accompanied by fast complex picture changes, like explosions. I have never seen this with a DVD though.

yes....I DVR'd it from HBO this week. I have not checked to see if this happened with a DVD yet.

If the 990's display is changing, that indicates that the signal coming to the 990 is being interrupted. Try this: play the scenes at a lower volume adn see what happens. I suspect that it will still occur, because I suspect that it is an artifact in the recording on your DVR.

i erased Transformers after I watched it. I will see if it happens again tonight on other programs/ dvd's.

Has anyone else experienced this with Cablevision? Is there any way to stop it from happening?
