Last weekend I bought a 73" Mitsubishi DLP (Model # WD 73927) and am struggling with the best way to hook it up to the 990. I have a Denon 1920 DVD player which has an HDMI output which is currently hooked straight to the TV. I have a General Instruments cable box with analog outs only. The cable box is run through the 990. I would like to run the DVD player through the 990 also. My questions are as follows: If I use the 990, should I run component out of the DVD player into the 990 component in and then component out of the 990 to component in into the TV or DVI out of the 990 to HDMI in into the TV. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It'd probably be best to stick with HDMI out for the Denon 1920 - that lets you keep your video in the digital domain all the way to the screen (since DLP engines are digital devices, the video signal doesn't really become "analog" until the light hits the mirrors). With only one DVI or HDMI source, you could simply leave it running directly to the TV, although running through the 990's DVI switching would let you add a second DVI/HDMI device (such as a newer HD cable box) later very easily. In fact, you might check with your cable company to see if they'll swap your box out for one with DVI or HDMI output - that way, you could run both through the 990 and use the 990's DVI output as your sole normally-used video source for the Mitsubishi (no need to switch inputs on the TV). You'd still want to have a video connection from one of the 990's analog video monitor outputs so you can get access to the 990's on-screen menus (probably component to give you the most flexibility if you add more video sources later, although for just the 990's menus you could get by with just a composite or s-video).
