Dear Fellow Outlaw,
Many of you who visit the Saloon over the last week or so may have noticed an occasional spam posting (mostly posted by spam robots and manually deleted by an administrator). While this has not been an issue for us in the past, we have taken this opportunity to initiate electronic countermeasures (and ultimately move to a new forum software platform) in the very near future.
Please be assured that all of the userids, topics, threads, and history from the old saloon software will be preserved in the new platform (except of course those from spammers). In addition, new functionality will be added that will improve your Saloon experience.
Until the new platform is implemented, we are requiring newly registered users to be approved before they can post. We realize that this may be inconvenient to new users who will not be able to post instantly upon registration. However until the new platform is deployed, the Outlaws will be authorizing new members in batches several times a day (including weekends and holidays), so the wait should not be too long.
As soon as the new platform and countermeasures are in place, this restriction on new registrations will be lifted.
Thank you very much for your patience as the Outlaws take on this spam scourge that harms us all.
Best regards,
The Outlaws
