Intermittent Hum from Amplifier

Intermittent Hum from Amplifier - 05/21/02 02:46 PM

I am getting an intermittent hum from my 770. I have had it almost two weeks. The hum usually lasts for 15 seconds or so and is loud enough to hear across the room during quiet moments. The hum does not come over the speakers, it is from the amplifier itself. I suspect the source is one of the transformers. Is this normal? Suggestions?

Other than the hum am very pleased with both the 950 and 770.

This doesn't sound normal to me- and intermittent problems can be tough to ID. You might want to give customer service a call and describe the problem to them. Let us know what you come up with.

I contacted customer support and received a new 770 on Friday. Hum is gone and the unit is much more quiet on start up. I am pleased.

That's good news. Outlaw's got great customer service. Thanks for the update!

Yes, customer service seems great. Now if they could only get rid of all the quality control issues with hisses and hums in the 950/770 pair, more people would feel comfortable ordering. Even though I'm on the wait list it will be tough to pull the trigger without hearing some positive news from Outlaw.
