A bunch of very specific questions - 06/16/03 04:47 PM

Hi Group,
-Does the 950 convert composite to svideo
-svideo to component (unlikely)
-does it output as analog audio from digital in
-does it output digital audit from analog in
-does it let you record from a source which is not the active source
-can you set individual speaker volumes differently for different sources
-can you change individual speaker volums on the fly without affecting settings
-does it have 7 channel stereo
-does it provide a comprehensive set of discrere remote codes (so an MX-700 can do a nice job)

Thanks in advance... Roger

Yes, it does.

Nope.

No. You would need to connect the analog audio to record in analog.

Also no.

No, it does not. The record outs for VCR and Tape use the active source. The zone two output is independent, but it is audio only and as with the record outputs for VCR and tape will only work with analog inputs.

No, the speaker trim settings are universal for all sources.

I do not believe so. I think changes to channel trim settings are permanent.

Yes. It has five-channel and seven-channel stereo modes in addition to Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS NEO:6, and Cirrus Extra Surround for surround back channel.

It has a fair number of discrete codes, but it depends on what you want to do. The MX-500 is widely used (I'm looking to pick one up myself), and works very well by all accounts.

If you are seriously considering the 950 and haven't done so already, I strongly recommend taking a look at the manual, which is available here . Now, to see how many typos I need to fix...
