Digital Signal Acquisition Delay - DISH PVR501 - 10/07/02 03:34 PM

The manual says if you set the digital signal type to a specific typoe (PCM for example) it will speed up signal acquisition time. I tried setting it, and it still takes 10 seconds everytime I fast forward or pause on my DISH 501. Is it the satellite receiver causing the delay?

Incidentally, I got the surprise of discovering that The Sopranos is in Dolby Digital on Dishnetwork because not moments after setting it to fixed PCM The Sopranos came on and sent digital noise to my speakers! That got turned off quickly!

Sadly a lot of the DD is actually 2.0 material. I suspect the datarate of a full on 5.1 feed is more than the provider wants to pay for most of the time.

I noticed that too in the few minutes i had to look. The 950 told me though, and it showed Sopranos in 3/2/1 and mind of the married man in 2/0/0, which it processed with my default DPLII-C
