Poll for triple Xover settings - 07/04/02 11:59 AM
I'd certainly like to know how everybody who owns a 950 has set the triple xover on their 950 for their specific speaker setup.
Please list speaker types and frequency specs if known.

Fronts - Axiom M80Ti, 28Hz - 20kHz, crossover @40Hz
Center - Axiom VP150, 50Hz - 20kHz, crossover @60Hz
Surrounds - Axiom QS8, 60Hz - 20kHz, crossover @80Hz
Subwoofer - Axiom EP350, 30Hz - 120Hz.
Sounds good to my ears this way. I suppose a global 80Hz crossover would also work, but I kind of like getting a little extra "punch" from the mains.

Mains - Vandersteen 2ce signatures - 40hz
Center - Vandersteen VCC-1 - 150hz (proximity setting off)
Surrounds - Vandersteen VSM-1 - 80hz
Sub - Vandersteen V2W - on of course
Forgot to add, I have a 950 of course, serial 020300361 (does this mean it was made in March of 2002, #361...?)
All driven by a 755, the sub has it's own 300W amp built-in.

(poor-man's version of bbarden's system...)
Mains - Vandersteen 2ce's set to large
Center - Vandersteen VCC at 120Hz
Side Surrounds - Vand. VSM-1's at 80Hz
Rear Surrounds - Small, old, Plastic POC JBL Surround-1's at 80Hz (ideally should be higher, but a quad-crossover's asking a little much)
Sub - SVS 16-46 CS (passive sub) powered by a Nakamichi PA-5
Since I don't have a whole lot of power for the sub and the mains are bi-amped, I figured setting the mains to large would give me the potential for more power, since 3 amp channels are providing low bass instead of just one. It sounds to me like the theory works, plus the Vandy's are tighter/more musical than the SVS.
